Canvas Basics
Learn how to use the Artilora canvas to create and organize your designs.
Getting Started
Creating a Canvas
- Click "Create Canvas" or "Smart Canvas" from the homepage
- A new canvas window will open automatically
- Your canvas is saved automatically as you work
Canvas Interface
The canvas consists of:
- Left Sidebar: Tools and settings
- Center: Drawing area (infinite canvas)
- Right Sidebar: AI chat panel (optional)
- Top Bar: Canvas name and menu
Basic Tools
Hand Tool
- Purpose: Move and navigate the canvas
- Shortcut:
HorSpace - Usage: Click and drag to pan around
Selection Tool
- Purpose: Select, move, and resize elements
- Shortcut:
V - Usage: Click to select, drag to move, drag corners to resize
Drawing Tools
Shapes (S)
- Rectangle, Ellipse, Arrow, Line
- Click and drag to draw
- Double-click to edit text on shapes
Text Tool (T)
- Click on canvas to add text
- Double-click to edit existing text
Free Draw (D)
- Draw freehand sketches
- Adjust brush size in toolbar
Eraser (E)
- Erase parts of drawings
- Adjust eraser size in toolbar
Smart Canvas (Frame)
Smart Canvas is a special frame for AI image generation.
Creating a Smart Canvas
- Click the Frame tool (or press
F) - Click and drag on canvas to create a frame
- Set resolution (e.g., 1024×1024) in the panel
- Enter your prompt in the AI chat
- Click Generate to create images
Frame Features
- Fixed Resolution: Images generate at specified size
- Multiple Variations: Generate multiple images in one frame
- Easy Export: Right-click frame to export images
Working with Images
Adding Images
- From AI Generation: Generated images appear automatically in Smart Canvas
- Upload: Drag and drop images onto canvas
- From Chat: Click "Add to canvas" in AI chat results
Editing Images
- Select an image on canvas
- Right-click → Choose edit option:
- Edit with Brush: Paint to modify (inpaint)
- Crop: Crop the image
- View BOM: Open material list (for product designs)
Image Modifications
Inpainting (Edit with Brush):
- Use brush to mark areas to change
- Use eraser to remove marks
- Enter new prompt for the marked area
- Click Generate to regenerate
Cropping:
- Select image → Right-click → Crop
- Drag corners to adjust crop area
- Click Apply to confirm
Organizing Your Canvas
Zooming
- Zoom In:
Ctrl/Cmd + +or scroll wheel - Zoom Out:
Ctrl/Cmd + -or scroll wheel - Fit to Screen:
Ctrl/Cmd + 0or click zoom icon
Layers
- Elements are automatically layered by creation order
- Select element → Right-click → Bring to Front or Send to Back
Grouping
- Select multiple elements (hold
Shiftand click) - Right-click → Group to group together
- Right-click → Ungroup to separate
Saving and Exporting
Auto-Save
- Canvas saves automatically every few seconds
- No need to manually save
Export Options
- Export Canvas: File → Export → Choose format (PNG, SVG, JSON)
- Export Images: Select images → Right-click → Export
- Export All: File → Export → Export All Images
Sharing
- Click canvas menu (top-left)
- Select Share
- Copy link to share with others
Tips
- Use Smart Canvas for AI generation (better quality and control)
- Group related elements to keep canvas organized
- Use layers to manage complex designs
- Export regularly to backup your work
- Use keyboard shortcuts for faster workflow
